Many homes can fully electrify on a 100 Amp electric panel with the combination of efficient appliances and careful planning.

If you’re a homeowner beginning the journey of home electrification, you may be wondering whether you need to upgrade your electrical panel. It is common advice that a home needs a 200 Amp electrical panel for whole home electrification. If your panel is less than 100 Amps, extremely old, or unsafe, then you’ll probably need an upgrade. But if your panel is in good shape and at least 100 Amps, you can usually fully electrify without the added expense of a panel upgrade.

Electrifying on a 100 Amp panel means making some smart choices about energy-efficient appliances and circuit sharing devices, but it can save you thousands of dollars and lots of time. On the other hand, upgrading your panel to 200 Amps will provide you with more electrical power, more flexibility for the future, and more options when selecting appliances, such as fast EV chargers.

Learn about the pros and cons of a panel upgrade, and what kind of upfront planning is required to electrify on your existing 100 Amp panel. Join us for a 30-minute webinar in which we’ll discuss:

  • How do you determine if your home needs a panel upgrade?

  • What are the typical costs for a panel upgrade?

  • What kind of planning is required to fully electrify on a 100 Amp panel?

  • What are the key technologies and appliances that can help you electrify without triggering a panel upgrade?

  • How do smart panels work and what are their benefits?

  • Does the Inflation Reduction Act help address the costs of panel upgrades?
