Despite our current housing crisis, energy insecurity, and affordability concerns, we have solutions for these urgent issues. We can build the housing we need while also securing a resilient, lower-cost energy future by maximizing the resources we have right here in our community and in our state. We can also preserve the character of our downtowns and the integrity of our natural and working lands with integrated planning and coordination.
This interactive workshop will explore the intersection of housing and energy - how merging the good work underway on both can help to serve our local needs and to create more livable, affordable communities. Speakers will share practical solutions and programs that can lower costs, strengthen our town centers, and help us achieve many of our shared priorities.
Using area maps and hands-on models, participants will learn about local projects in planning stages and how shared infrastructure such as Thermal Energy Networks can serve many of our energy needs. As a community, we’ll explore how the Manchester area can benefit from local resources and become a model for more affordable, resilient towns across Vermont.
